Description:
This introductory course takes the user through the development
and execution of a complete design problem. A general overview
of iSIGHT and its various features is given. Users will first
learn how to wrap simulation codes in the iSIGHT framework.
Three design exploration tools are also covered including optimization,
design of experiments and approximation modeling. Extensive
lab time provides the user with ample hands-on experience. Note:
Discounted fees are offered for users taking more than one course
in the same week. See the table below for details. |
Description:
The purpose of the Quality Engineering course is to show users
how to apply the following tools to their design process:
- Monte Carlo Analysis
- Taguchi Robust Design
- Reliability Analysis + Optimization
- Six Sigma Robust Design
These methods are essential for addressing the uncertainties
that can find their way into a design problem. Users will
be able to understand the effect that variable distributions
have on responses, how reliable their designs are, and how
to find designs that are insensitive to factors that may be
beyond their control. Quality methods can be applied to effectively
implement Design for Six Sigma Initiatives early in the design
process.
Note: Discounted fees are offered for users taking more
than one course in the same week. See the table below for
details. |
Description:
This advanced iSIGHT course focuses on customizing iSIGHT through
modifying description files. These files are written in iSIGHT’s
propriety language called Multidisciplinary Optimization Language
(MDOL). The user will become familiar with the syntax of this
language and learn to dynamically create MDOL text.
iSIGHT’s application programming interface (API) and
the Tcl programming language allow additional customization.
The API’s are discussed, and a Tcl tutorial is included.
The class also covers how to run interactive programs, such
as FTP or Telnet or to run programs without file parsing instructions
(available on UNIX platforms only).
Note: Discounted fees are offered for users taking more
than one course in the same week. See the table below for details.

Description:
Users will learn the core graphical user interfaces of iSIGHT-FD
including the Design Gateway and Runtime Gateway.
The Design Gateway GUI provides a main desktop entry point into
iSIGHT-FD. Users will gain familiarity with all it’s functionality
including using the drag-and-drop mechanism to build process
models;
define control flow and data flow; access the library to store,
search and retrieve components. The Runtime Gateway enables
users to execute, retrieve and visualize results. A series of
labs introduces the user to several components including the
simulation code, calculator,
e-mail, Excel, and Word activity components as well as the Design
of Experiments, Optimization, Monte Carlo and the use of a Task
Plan. |
